Question by Kathy S: Does anyone (else) feel that there are more informative channels for getting political info than “youtube”?
It’s a “fun” site, I’m sure…but try CNN, Time, USA Today, Newsmax….you might read some actual facts, rather than “gossip”…or “soundbites”….

Hey, I like youtube for entertainment, no “haters” please, answers to actual question appreciated!

Question by Chi Guy: Has anyone watched the show “30 Days” and have had a change in trajectory on a political stand because of it?
I viewed it for the first time last night. In the first show, a “minuteman” civilian border patrol guy was asked to live with a family of illegals for 30 days. During the last few days he went to Mexico to see where the family came from. I was heart broken when I saw the conditions they lived in. It was basically a 150 foot red brick enclosure with a tin roof and no running water for a family of five.

The second show I watched, a software programmer’s job was outsourced to India and he was pissed about it. So they sent him to live in India for 30 Days and work at a telemarketing center. A supervisor there had five family members, counting himself, sleeping four to one bed while he slept on the floor next to it. I was amazed and appalled at the poverty that was their daily lives over there.

Has anyone here seen any episodes of this show? If so did it have an impact on you?
Also, by seeing how the workers in India live 5 people to one room, it proves what I have said all along that simply cutting corporate taxes would not even put a dent in the disparity between what a US worker requires for pay vs a worker in countries such as India.

Unless US workers are willing to live five people per 300 square foot home without a toilet.
Paul (below) Yaw. People don’t “hate America” because they are poor. The hate America for propping up dictators in their regions. You know, like Reagan did with Saddam Hussein.
No Pinheads (below) Agreed, to a point. However, those conditions are unimaginable in the 21st century.

Why do you refuse to watch it again?
bmovies6… (below) Great twist on my words. Now try being honest about what I stated above for once.

You canNOT make up the disparity in PAY and BENEFITS that are required by US workers in comparison to 3rd world country workers with tax cuts. That is a simple FACT regardless of opinion.

The government would have to pay US workers 75% of their salary and benefits to equalize the difference. UNLESS US workers were willing to live in abject poverty and earn per day.
Locutus 2of1 (below) Welcome back

Thanks for PROVING MY POINT!

US corporations have done and continue to do just that. Yet somehow you state that it is ME that wants to do it. Do you listen to yourself BEFORE going after me?

You could find those same conditions here in the United States. I am betting 30 days will not bother to look though.

March 6, 2004 www.amazon.com Watch the full program: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Stephen Colbert joined the cast of Comedy Central’s parody-news series The Daily Show in 1997, when the show was in its second season. Originally one of four correspondents who filmed segments from remote locations in the style of network news field reporters, Colbert was referred to as “the new guy” on-air for his first two years on the show, during which time Craig Kilborn served as host. When Kilborn left the show prior to the 1999 season, Jon Stewart took over hosting duties, also serving as a writer and co-executive producer. From this point, the series gradually began to take on a more political tone and increase in popularity, particularly in the latter part of the 2000 US presidential election season. The roles of the show’s correspondents were expanded to include more in-studio segments, as well as international reports which were almost always done in the studio with the aid of a greenscreen. Unlike Stewart, who essentially hosts The Daily Show as himself, Colbert developed a correspondent character for his pieces on the series. Colbert has described his correspondent character as “a fool who has spent a lot of his life playing not the fool”—one who is able to cover it at least well enough to deal with the subjects that he deals with.” Colbert was frequently pitted against knowledgeable interview subjects, or against Stewart in scripted exchanges, with the resultant dialogue

March 6, 2004 www.amazon.com Watch the full program: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Stephen Tyrone Colbert (born on May 13, 1964) is an American political satirist, writer, comedian and television host. He is the host of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, a satirical news show in which Colbert portrays a caricatured version of conservative political pundits. Colbert originally studied to be an actor, but became interested in improvisational theatre when he met famed Second City director Del Close while attending Northwestern University. He first performed professionally as an understudy for Steve Carell at Second City Chicago; among his troupe mates were comedians Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris, with whom he developed the critically acclaimed sketch comedy series Exit 57. Colbert also wrote and performed on the short-lived Dana Carvey Show before collaborating with Sedaris and Dinello again on the cult television series Strangers with Candy. He gained considerable attention for his role on the latter as closeted, gay history teacher Chuck Noblet. It was his work as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s news-parody series The Daily Show, however, that first introduced him to a wide audience. In 2005, he left The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to host a spin-off series, The Colbert Report. Following The Daily Show’s news-parody concept, The Colbert Report is a parody of personality-driven political opinion shows such as The O’Reilly Factor. Since its debut, the series has

Question by Paul Johnson: Isn’t “The Daily Show” a better source for political news than most media outlets?
Also, I think they should expand the show to one hour and put the first run on live at 8pm eastern. They should have no more breaks, just maybe have a guest host if Jon needs the day off. Maybe we could get a petition going for this.

Answer by Princess
Yes. I love the Daily Show and feel that it covers the news better than the major news stations. Pretty sad that it outdoes the rest because the Daily Show supposed to be a comedy, not accurate news…

Question by Aunt Acid: Why is Biden CONSTANTLY making political blunders and is he the BEST Obama could get for VP?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/04/17/bidens-list-political-blunders/

Here’s a list of 14 amusing yet cringe-worthy “Bidenisms” made during the vice president’s more recent political career.

– On March 13, 2009, Biden addressed a former Senate colleague by saying, “An hour late, oh give me a f**king break,” after he arrived on Amtrak at Union Station in Washington, D.C. The vice president’s expletive was caught on a live microphone.

– During a Feb. 25, 2009, interview on CBS’ “Early Show,” Biden encouraged viewers to visit a government-run Web site that tracks stimulus spending. When asked for the site’s web address, Biden could not remember the site’s “number.”

“You know, I’m embarrassed. Do you know the Web site number?” he asked an aide standing out of view. “I should have it in front of me and I don’t. I’m actually embarrassed.”

– At a Jan. 30, 2009, swearing-in ceremony of senior White House staff, Biden mocked Chief Justice John Roberts for his presidential oath blunder on Inauguration Day.

“Am I doing this again?” Biden said, after Obama asked him to administer the oath. When Biden was told the swearing-in was for senior staff — and not cabinet members — the vice president quipped, “My memory is not as good as Justice Roberts,” prompting a stern nudge from Obama.

– On Inauguration Day, Jan. 20 2009, Biden misspoke when he told a cheering crowd of supporters, “Jill and I had the great honor of standing on that stage, looking across at one of the great justices, Justice Stewart.” Justice John Paul Stevens — not Stewart — swore Biden in as vice president.

– When criticizing former GOP nominee John McCain in Athens, Ohio, on Oct. 15, 2008, Biden said, “Look, John’s last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs.”

– In a Sept. 22, 2008, CBS interview, Biden misspoke when he said Franklin D. Roosevelt was president when the stock market crashed in 1929.

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,” he said. Herbert Hoover — not Roosevelt — was president in 1929, and television had not yet been invented in 1929.

– During a Sept. 12, 2008, speech in Columbia, Mo., Biden called for Missouri State Sen. Chuck Graham, who is wheelchair-bound, to “stand up.”

“Oh, God love ya,” Biden said, after realizing his mistake. “What am I talking about?”

– At a Sept. 10, 2008, town hall meeting in Nashua, N.H., Biden said, “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.”

– Biden mistakenly referred to Alaska governor Sarah Palin as the “lieutenant governor” of her state during a town hall meeting on Sept. 4, 2008 at George Mason University in Manassas, Va.

“I heard a very, by the way I mean this sincerely, a very strong and a very good political speech from a lieutenant governor of Alaska who I think is going to be very formidable, very formidable not only in the campaign but in the debate,” Biden said.

– Biden said he was running for president — not vice president — during a Sept. 1, 2008, roundtable discussion in Scranton, Pa.

“Today is the moment for me as a United States senator running for president to put aside the national politics and focus on what’s happening down there,” Biden said.

– Biden referred to John McCain as “George” during his vice presidential acceptance speech on Aug. 27, 2008, at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Co. “Freudian slip, folks, Freudian slip,” he explained.

– Biden confused army brigades with battalions when speaking about Obama’s plan for sending troops to Afghanistan.

“Or should we trust Barack Obama, who more than a year ago called for sending two additional combat brigades to Afghanistan?”

– During his first campaign rally with Obama as his vice presidential running mate on Aug. 23, 2008, Biden introduced Obama by saying, “A man I’m proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack America!”

– On Jan. 31, 2007 — the day Biden announced his presidential bid — the Delaware Senator was roundly criticized for calling Obama “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
