A chef at the chemical company Henkel cooks in the soup kitchen of a Franciscan monastry. A trainee from the IT company Mikado explains the internet to senior citizens. And all at the companies’ expense. The concept is called “Corporate Volunteering.” The idea comes from America and is the quintessential win-win situation. When a company asks its employees to do volunteer work, it’s not only society that benefits. The company derives something from the arrangement too, if an employee who feels valued for his or her contribution gives more at work as well.
