I really want to know, Is it Tosh.0 or Tosh.O? To me it would seem the parody is on software versions, therefore favoring Tosh.0, but when the announcer states the name of the show it is pronounced Tosh.O. Anyway, I am hereby going on record as giving Tosh.0 a thumbs down! Now, I know what those of you are saying that are reading this within the first 72 hours of posting, how can you give a thumbs down to a show that hasnt even aired yet? Simple. From the promos for Tosh.O they have made it clear that the plan is to showcase the stupiditiy of the internet. Comedy Central is owned by Viacom. Viacom is involved in a lawsuit with YouTube, claiming that YouTube was built on copyright infringement. A show on VH1 in 2006, confirmed that Viacom was trying to make the case. As of late, Viacom has been attempting a different strategy, with a show like Tosh.O, and a short-lived show with Lewis Black earlier this year, they are attempting to demonstrate the internet video has no real value. Viacom always prefers to present internet video as meaningless, low brow humor. The reason? Simple. The internet is inevitably changing that way we digest media, and there is no doubt that television will eventually be assimilated into a single media stream known as the internet. Viacom, and their stations, like Comedy Central can only hope to slow the media take over by attempting to convince as many as possible that the internet is a waste of time. Viacom, there is no escape. Adapt or die …
