Question by maryann c: Anybody here popular in middle school and/or high school?
Ok so I am this really nerdy girl in 8th grade. I am smart and all, but I often feel like people are talking about how annoying I am or smiling and exchanging glances when I do something stupid. I am also really dumb at comebacks.

Therefore, I am wondering what you say/do when…….

1. A group of popular girls is partnered up with you for gym and they say “It’s just the three of us…and Courtney.”(My name is courtney.) Then they laugh and exchange glances.
2. Somebody tells you that your fly is open.
3. Somebody tells you that you are like a disgusting cow chewing with your mouth open.
4. Somebody tells you that you shouldn’t say something.
5. Somebody says who hates you constantly says to you” Courtney your ugly. No…I’m Kidding.” and shit like that.
6. One of the members of a group of girls says to you ” Courtney, I like your shirt” then the group cracks up and says “Couldn’t say that with a straight face!.” Then they laugh and exchange glances.
7. You are wearing shorts after acting a skit in front of your entire class, and this cool girl that you were starting to become friends with tells you that your butt is hanging out.

So tell me what to do in those situations because I have been through all of them. I always end up smiling, even when a group of girls is standing there laughing at me. Seriously, I need your help please.
Seriously. I need friends. I need to learn how to be popular. Never have been, and I REALLY want to be. But first I need to learn how to be cool socially. Please help and answer seriously. Be a hero!
Yes, smiling and laughing it off works occasionally, but usually it makes me look like a weak, easy pathetic target while screaming at them will make me look crazy because I am usually quiet. P.S. I unfortunately have no real friends to back me up:(

Question by SweetieL: I got yelled at by a teacher!?
Hi guys! I’m a junior in high school. Apparently I’m forced to take a freshmen class, Health. I was fine with it for a while, i was being a good student, listen to teacher, take notes, not talking while the teacher is talking and all that. I never had any conflicts any teachers from any classes until today. As i walked into the Health class, the teacher said “tuck in ur shirt!”,I didnt look at him but i heard his voice so i rolled my eyes and sighed. My school uniform when shirts are tucked in, it looks kinda ugly and nerdy (none of the juniors or seniors have their shirt tucked and never got in trouble or even told to do so)

so back to the story, when the teacher ordered to tuck in the shirts i didnt know he was specifically talking to ME, so i continued walking towards my desk while tucking my shirt in and all of the sudden he started yelling something like ” DID YOU JUST IGNORED WHAT I SAID?” so i looked back and was confused so i pointed at myself and hes like ” yeah , you!” then he shouted “From the point that u rolled your eyes, u think what im saying is a joke? you think you can just walk in this classroom and do whatever you want?”

wow…i didnt expect to be yelled at just because i unknowingly rolled my eyes….so i apologize to him and he didnt take it he said ” i dont need u to be sorry just be what ur supposed to be. you already know the rules, is it that hard for you to follow? why do i have to tell you everyday to tuck in ur shirt and dont give me that look or even walk away while i was talking again” <---( i dont remember wat else he said)

It was humiliating since everyone else eyes turned at me when the teacher higher his voice. No one else has their shirt tucked...so why me??? I dont think i deserve to be "yelled" at like that...do i????

I wasn't even thinking before i rolled my eyes i just did it automatically. I've never been yelled at before and it kinda hurts because he made me think of myself as if i did something horribly wrong.I didnt talk back to him cuz i didnt know what to say so i just listened and after hes done yelling i went back to my seat and almost cried.

I dont think yelling would make me more respectful to him, in fact, it kinda make things worse. Just becuz hes also a coach he might be used to people obeying him that doesnt mean he could yell at a girl :( ...... after talking to my friends and my aunt about it. they all said that he made this situation a bigger deal than it should be. what do you guys think????
For the last two comments =_=
Thanks for the tips and yes i should have follow the school rules. I know it was my fault and i was the cause of the yelling but he should have handle it differently. Yelling isn't communicating, can you tell the differences??? :S like seriously, would you want someone to be yelling at you over a little mistake u make? hell no!

Yes, girls should never be yelled at. Heck, why should they be expected to follow rules? Especially upperclassmen.

I wonder how you’d feel if you told him something he was supposed to already be doing and he rolled his eyes. You’d see nothing wrong with it, right?

Geek Shirts: Cool and Fashionable Wear

Geek shirts are becoming popular nowadays. You would likely see people, young and old, walking down the street sporting shirts with prints that say, “It Must Be User Error” or “Obey Gravity, It’s Law”. And it is not only limited to men. Ladies are also embracing this type of get-up, so you won’t be surprised if the sexy chick waiting in line next to you wears “Talk Nerdy To Me” shirt.

What Is A Geek?

The word “geek” originally refers to the performers in a carnival whose act includes biting the heads off chickens and eating glass to entertain people. After a while, a person who got paid to do work considered odd or out of the ordinary by mainstream society also referred to as a geek.

A geek used to have a negative connotation. It’s not something you want to be called decades ago, I’m sure. But, after years of ridicule and never getting the girls out, geeks these days are hot. The term has become more complimentary, denoting extra ordinary skills within particular fields particularly in the technical field.  Computer programmers, for instance, think highly of the term because it gives them special status within the computing community.

Geek Chic

Over the years, some geeks have developed a geek culture, such as geek humor and obscure references on T-shirts. Geek chic refers to the breaking of traditional fashion rules and taking up of stereotypically not so popular geek characteristics such as thick glasses, plastic pocket protectors, computer video games, and floodwater pants.

Why Wear A Geek Shirt

Geek shirts have come a long way since its first entrance to the fashion world. High tech people often find themselves enjoying special status by how obscure the logo on their T-shirt is.  The rarer the logo or saying, the better.  It gives them some sense of pride in wearing a T-shirt that is relatively rare but that real geeks can identify and admire.

The T-shirt is the cornerstone of the tech geek’s attire. Some may see T-shirt as an anti-status symbol, but for the geeks, geek T-shirts project a knowledgeable person who knows that what is inside his head is more important than what is on his back.

Today’s geek shirts are smart and elegant, with stylish graphic designs and cool, clever sayings like, “Life would be easier if I had the source code,” “Hacker Inside,” and “There’s no place like 127.0.0.1”. Being a geek is fashionable. Just because you are a gamer or a geek doesn’t mean you should dress like a dork. Wear a geek shirt and be proud that you are a geek.
