Question by I be talkin Gullah: Why give up something for Lent? Why not give back, instead?
Every year, the question is posed, “What are you giving up for Lent?” And in so many cases, the answer is “Gum, coffee, smoking, meat, desserts, gossip…” or some other small, seemingly mundane thing. With the exception of cigarettes, giving up any of the above hardly seems like a sacrifice. And isn’t that part of what Lent represents, suffering as your Lord suffered?
Why not give back to your community instead? You could volunteer at a shelter, teach illiterates to read, help to educate young, disadvantaged children, pick up litter along the highway. The list goes on.

It might have been because she supports gays, and is showing her support. I know before she said “I don’t mind people thinking that I’m gay or calling me gay. People are going to believe whatever they want. Yes, I hang out at gay clubs, but other clubs too. I go where the music is good. I love people regardless of sexual preference, regardless of race. No, I am not bisexual. I have been linked with dancers in our group because we are so close. I grew up in a big family. I love being affectionate. I love intimacy and I am not afraid to show it. We fall asleep in each other’s arms. We hug, we kiss, but there is nothing beyond that. Because René Elizondo, Jr. and I broke up, it’s like people need some sort of drama, some sort of gossip”

I don’t have any friends, partly by choice but mostly due to social anxiety. I am 22 and female, and I view having friendships as a complex web of social drama that I want no part of whatsoever. I would rather just have a boyfriend/husband and family and have that be my “social circle.” People seem to resent me for this lifestyle choice, could it be because secretly they wish they had as much time to themselves as me, and didn’t have to worry about keeping up with the latest, shallow “gossip”? By the way, I know people reading this are going to think I’m a stuck up, heartless snob, and I don’t care. I don’t have to prove myself to anyone but myself. If I choose to just care about a select few people, what’s wrong with that?

Answer by Sofia There is nothing wrong with this but when you have to stay in a society then you have to care a lot of people instead of a few people because every society have some demands that v must fullfill..It is good for us to remain in contact with many people,Try to listen them and understand them to some extent as you can do easily…….
